1000+

375+

Dr. DeCriscio is a board-certified Chiropractic Physician with advanced certifications in Vestibular Rehabilitation and Chiropractic Neurology. He has completed more than 1,000 hours of advanced functional neurology education, including over 375 hours of additional training focused on concussion rehabilitation.
In 2010, Dr. DeCriscio founded the Center for Dizziness & Balance Disorders in Maryland, a practice dedicated to helping patients with vertigo, balance disorders, and vestibular dysfunction. Following its merger with WellSpan Health, he remained actively involved in provider education and consultation, supporting the development of the health system’s concussion and vestibular rehabilitation programs. He also provided continuing education (CEU) courses for WellSpan’s physical and occupational therapists, helping advance clinical knowledge and best practices in vestibular and concussion rehabilitation.
His clinical focus includes persistent post-concussion symptoms, vestibular dysfunction, dizziness and balance disorders, neurological rehabilitation, and cognitive and functional recovery.
Today, he combines detailed clinical examination with advanced diagnostics to better understand how concussion-related dysfunction may be affecting daily function, work performance, and quality of life.
A Focus on Personalized Concussion Recovery
No two concussion injuries are exactly alike. That is why Dr. Michael DeCriscio believes recovery should not be driven by generic, one-size-fits-all rehabilitation.
Just as important as the evaluation is the way care is delivered. Dr. DeCriscio believes effective concussion care starts with listening carefully, evaluating thoroughly, and understanding how symptoms affect the whole person.
The CereSynx™ NeuroRecovery System
Every patient begins with a comprehensive evaluation through the CereSynx™ NeuroRecovery System — a structured process designed to identify the factors contributing to ongoing symptoms, understand how those symptoms are affecting daily life, and determine the most appropriate recovery pathway based on each patient’s unique needs.
Why Our Care Model Is Different
Persistent concussion symptoms are often complex, unpredictable, and highly individualized.
Because of this, Dr. DeCriscio intentionally designed Carolina Concussion & Physical Medicine around a care model that differs from a traditional high-volume insurance-based structure.
Rather than following rigid treatment limitations or one-size-fits-all protocols, care is designed to adapt as each patient progresses through recovery.
For many patients, that ongoing data-based guidance becomes especially important after months — or even years — of unresolved symptoms.
Development of the CereSynx™ NeuroRecovery System
After years of working with patients struggling with persistent concussion symptoms, Dr. DeCriscio saw a common pattern: People feel frustrated and hopeless after trying different treatments without finding real answers or meaningful improvement.
That experience led him to develop the CereSynx™ NeuroRecovery System — a proprietary framework created to bring more clarity, structure, and personalization to concussion recovery. The CereSynx™ protocols were built from his extensive clinical experience treating complex concussion cases and understanding how differently concussion symptoms can affect each individual.
